Tanzania

An East African gateway where Pakistani rice and used clothing lead

Tanzania bought US$228 million of goods from Pakistan in 2025, 130% more than in 2020. India sold US$5.02 billion, about 22 times as much. On Tanzania's own 2025 figures, Pakistan supplies about 0.34% of its imports and India about 13%.

Rice (US$98 million) is more than double India's US$45 million, and Pakistan also leads in used clothing (US$41 million), ethanol, bed linen, cement and men's trousers. Much of what lands at Dar es Salaam moves on to landlocked neighbours, which is why Tanzania's own import statistics show far less rice than suppliers report shipping.
